Lucy Carr was born in 1992 and is from Stockport. She started learning the recorder at the age of 7 and in 2003 was awarded a place at the Junior RNCM where she studied with Alan Davis. During her time at the JRNCM she performed in many concerts including at the Turnprike Centre, Leigh and Penrith Methodist Church.
Being a member of the National Youth Recorder Orchestra (NYRO) from 2005-2008, she played in many different venues including The Sage, Gateshead and with well-known players such as David Bellugi. She has had notable success at the Heaton Mersey Youth Festival, and in April 2013 she won first prize in the Recital class at the North West Recorder Festival.
Lucy graduated in 2014 from the Royal College of Music where she studied recorder with Ashley Solomon, Julien Feltrin and Maria Martinez Ayerza. Whilst at the RCM she performed in several concerts and masterclasses such as with Walter Van Hauwe and Michael Schneider.
As a soloist Lucy has performed with a number of orchestras in Manchester and London, most recently in a performance of Vivaldi's C minor and C major recorder concertos.
Lucy is an enthusiastic teacher and teaches in London with Lewisham Music and privately in Oxfordshire.
